⚠️ EMERGENCY NOTICE: If you are experiencing severe facial swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, call 911 and seek immediate care
No. Granite State Smiles Project only funds necessary, functional treatments like cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions, and dentures to eliminate infection and pain. We do not fund cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening.
No. To protect our tax-exempt status and ensure financial integrity, all approved grant funds are disbursed directly to your licensed New Hampshire dental provider. We never distribute cash or checks directly to patients.
If you qualify for the New Hampshire Medicaid "New Hampshire Smiles" adult dental benefit, you are ineligible for our program. Our mission is strictly funded to rescue the "Medicatid-Gap" group, working individuals who earn too much for state aid but cannot afford private care.
No! If you meet our basic eligibility rules, your application is never denied. We do not send out rejection letters.
Because we rely on donations to pay for treatment, we can only fund a certain number of treatments at a time. If your application is approved but we don't have the funds ready yet, we keep your application active and keep you in line until more funding comes in.
Here is what happens after you submit your application online:
Step 1: We check your eligibility. Our screening team reviews your paperwork to make sure you meet the criteria
Step 2: We score your application. We use a fair, objective scoring system to look at your dental needs and financial situation.
Step 3: You get placed in line. Once you are approved, you are officially in our queue. You will stay in this line as long as your application is active.
Step 4: We contact you. As soon as we raise enough donation money to cover your treatment, we will reach out to you and your dentist directly to start your care
Because we rely entirely on public donations, raising the money to pay for your dental care can take some time. We know that while you are waiting, your teeth might change, or your dentist might decide you need a different treatment than what we first approved.
If your dentist updates your treatment plan, don't worry! We will work together with you to sort it out:
Step 1: Tell your dentist to let us know. Have your dental office send us the updated treatment plan and the new cost estimate.
Step 2: We will review the changes. Our team will look over the new plan to see how it fits into your approved funding.
Step 3: We figure out a solution. We will do our absolute best to adjust your funding so you can still get the exact care you need
